"The Tending" - Original Woodcut Print
89 EUR
This small intimate black and white woodcut captures the beautiful dance of motherhood and cultivation—a woman kneeling among the vegetable rows, holding her daughter in one arm while she grasps a freshly harvested cabbage in the other. Part of my "Childhood in the Garden" collection, this piece celebrates the art of tending—to both plants and people, to soil and soul.
Hand-carved and printed at Forest Edge Atelier, nestled within the forests of Estonia, this original woodcut honors the timeless practice of raising children alongside vegetables. Each carved line tells the story of mothers who have always done two things at once, who nurse babies while pulling weeds, who teach through living, and who pass on important life skills to the next generation.
Printed on premium Hahnemühle 230 gsm etching paper with a clean white border, with every detail carefully carved using traditional woodcut techniques.
